The Library of the German Historical Institute Washington, DC

At present the library holds about 50.000 volumes (Books, CD-ROMs, Microforms, DVDs) and subscribes to more than 220 printed journals and a lot of online journals and Databases. The collection concentrates on German history and German-American relations, with emphasis on the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.

The GHI Library offers free access to researchers, historians, scholars, and the general public. Appointments or reader cards are not necessary. The library does not lend materials.
